How to install DaVinci Resolve video editor on Regata OS

Developed by Blackmagic Design, DaVinci Resolve is one of the most popular software for editing and video post production. It is a very complete application, with tools that allow compositing, audio editing, color correction and much more. Find out how simple it is to install DaVinci Resolve on your Regata OS!

To install the free version of DaVinci Resolve on your Regata OS, go to the Regata OS Store and search for davinci resolve (or just davinci). When entering the software page in the app store, click the "Install" button. The installation process should take a few minutes, with the time varying depending on your internet connection speed.

Once the installation is complete, to run DaVinci Resolve, simply click the "Open" button. The software will also be available in the application menu under the DaVinci Resolve section. When you open the video editor for the first time, you will see a welcome screen, where you can change the language of the software, in the upper right corner of the window. Now, click on the "Continue" button to proceed with the initial setup, defining where your projects will be saved and setting up keyboard shortcuts.

In addition to being able to perform an initial setup, you'll also be able to check if your PC is compatible, with DaVinci Resolve doing a quick system scan. Check in the next steps how to keep your drivers updated, for both NVIDIA and AMD video cards. With the setup process complete, you can start working on your editing projects.

Getting OpenCL Support with AMD Graphics

For AMD graphics card owners, it is important to have OpenCL (Open Computing Language) installed. This is a low-level API for heterogeneous computing, allowing DaVinci Resolve to render with the PC graphics card, among other performance improvements.

You can get OpenCL support with your AMD Radeon graphics card through the Regata OS Store.

Have the NVIDIA driver installed

In order for DaVinci Resolve to work correctly it is important that you have the NVIDIA driver installed so that your NVIDIA GeForce graphics card can work with all its features. If you're not sure if the NVIDIA driver is installed, search the apps menu for nvidia or go to the app store and under the "Installed" section, check if the video driver is installed.

If the NVIDIA driver is not installed, search for your graphics card model in the app store (e.g. gtx 660 or rtx 3060) and install the latest series driver for your video card. Then restart the machine.
