A new update for Regata OS 25 "Maverick" was released last Sunday (10). Update 25.0.5 brings more improvements and fixes, as well as updated packages to further enhance the user experience when using the arctic fox system with more modern hardware.
Fixes and improvements for Intel HD Graphics
Among the changes are fixes for modern laptops with Intel integrated graphics, which can now run Vulkan games and applications again.
Furthermore, there is a workaround to avoid system instability or crashes in applications that heavily utilize Intel's integrated graphics found on more modern machines.
KDE Plasma 6.4.4 is here
Initially released with the Plasma 6.3 desktop environment, Regata OS 25 now features the latest version in the 6.4.x series — Plasma 6.4.4 — providing users with a better desktop experience thanks to new features, improvements, and fixes from the KDE Plasma developers.
Among the highlights, KDE Plasma 6.4 brings a major user interface overhaul for the Spectacle screenshot utility, support for custom tile layouts per virtual desktop, a new HDR calibration wizard, and the Aurorae theme engine for KWin window compositor decorations.

More "under the hood" improvements
In addition to fixes for Intel integrated graphics, Regata OS 25.0.5 also features other "under the hood" improvements, including the Linux kernel, which was version 6.13 at the system's launch in April and has now been updated to version 6.15.
Highlights of Linux Kernel 6.15 include support for Shared Virtual Memory (SVM) for Intel Xe graphics, fixes for the AMD P-State driver, and further improvements to support for Intel and AMD CPUs, including support for load latency filtering for AMD Zen processors. 5.
Other changes include support for the Apple Touch Bar display, GPU fan speed monitoring for AMD Radeon RX 9070 series cards, GPU and Intel VRAM temperature reporting with the Xe driver, and AMDGPU driver support for the OEM i2c interface for RGB lighting control and other additional features used by some AMD Radeon card partners.
There are also many other improvements to wired and wireless networking drivers, including support for Realtek RTL8814AE and RTL8814AU and other ASICs, better support for laptops, including the Samsung Galaxy Book, and enhancements to the PlayStation 5 controller.

More game improvements
Update 25.0.5 for Regata OS also brings an updated compatibility layer for Game Access, enabling better support for launches and games, and the latest set of open-source graphics drivers Mesa 25.2, which brings further improvements and fixes for AMD and Intel GPUs.
Highlights include performance improvements for ray tracing with AMD Radeon graphics cards with RDNA3 and RDNA 4 architecture, the addition of several new Vulkan graphics API extensions, improvements to FSR 4, Vulkan Video support for RDNA 4 GPUs, and a variety of other optimizations and performance tweaks, thanks especially to Valve, Red Hat, and AMD.
On the Intel side, support for Xe3 Panther Lake graphics is now considered stable, and support for the feature has been improved. Also present are Vulkan Video, Shared Virtual Memory support for newer Intel GPUs, and a variety of other improvements, especially for Xe2 and Xe3 graphics hardware.
Mesa 25.2 also improves support for many games, including Ghost of Tsushima, Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, Team Fortress 2, DOTA 2, Heroes of Valor, The Last of Us Part II Remastered, Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath, Sid Meier's Civilization VII, It Takes Two, Trine 5, Mafia: Definitive Edition, Sky: Children of the Light, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, Skin Deep, Hunt: Showdown, Jusant, Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, Sniper Elite: Resistance, Final Fantasy XIV, Marvel Rivals, and Tomb Raider IV – VI Remastered.
